Centurion Megaways

Centurion Megaways is set in Ancient Rome, and Inspired Gaming fans will instantly recognise the scene. This slot is a Megaways remake of the developer’s popular Centurion slot, complete with Centurion Maximus Winnus up to his old tricks.

The grid features between 324 and 117649 ways to win, depending on how many symbols land on each reel. There are 6 of these, with an extra 4 positioned horizontal reel across the top. Wins are formed with at least three matching symbols anywhere on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel.

Apart from the low paying card ranks J to A, the symbols are all themed, with coins, helmets, swords and shields, chariots, the colosseum, and the game’s logo putting in an appearance. 

The most valuable symbol in the game is the Centurion logo, with a max prize of 50 x the bet for 6-of-a-kind. But with both increasing multipliers and Wild multipliers in the Free Spins, the maximum possible win is a generous 12,000 x the stake. So even with the relatively low betting range of 0.20 to 20, this game still has some serious win potential.

There are three feature symbols in this game to help players by increasing the chances of landing a win or triggering one of the fantastic bonus rounds.

The first is the Wild, a golden laurel wreath that will help form wins by standing in for other symbols. During the base game and some of the Free Spins rounds, this can only land on the top reel. During the Wild Power Spins, it can land anywhere on the grid.

The second is the Scatter, a Centurion with the word Bonus across the bottom. Three of these anywhere on the reels will trigger the Bonus Wheel, which I’ll tell you about in a minute.

The third is the Mystery symbol. This is a question mark, and when it lands, all instances on the reels transform into the same randomly chosen paying symbol.

Ancient Rome was a place of intrigue, plots and power struggles, and our friendly Centurion, Maximus Winnus, is obviously up to something as he hides in the bushes beside the reels. When he does pop up out of hiding, he’ll award a random bonus to help boost the players odds. There are four possible bonuses he can award, and these are;

While most Megaways slots need four bonus symbols to trigger the Free Spins, in Centurion Megaways, the player only needs three. The more, the merrier, of course, because the more triggering Scatters, the better the bonus round will be. Before the bonus game begins, players spin a bonus wheel which can award the following:

Prizes on Parade/Super Prizes on Parade: a pick-a-prize game that can award between 10 x and 43 x the bet during the regular round and between 18 x and 65 x in the super version.

Caesar’s Free Spins/Super Caesar’s Free Spins: a Free Spins with a random number of free spins and starting multiplier. This can be between 6 – 12 free spins with a starting multiplier of 1 x to 3 x in the regular version. Or between 8 to 16 free spins with a starting multiplier of 1x to 5x in the Super round. During the Free Spins, cascade wins increase the starting multiplier by +1.

Wild Power Spins/Super Wild Power Spins: a Free Spins bonus round with stacked wilds added to the reels. These come with multipliers in the Super version. In the super version, multipliers are added to the stacked wilds.

One thing I like about this slot is the chance to win a better bonus. If players aren't happy with the bonus they won by spinning the wheel, they can try and upgrade it with the gamble feature, but at the risk of going straight back to the main game with only a Mystery Cash Prize if they lose.
