Light & Wonder's Rainbow Riches series just keeps on giving, and now everybody's favourite Leprechaun has returned in a new instalment! Some of the previous titles were released under Barcrest, like Rainbow Riches Megaways and Rainbow Riches Pick & Mix. Rainbow Richers Power Pitch slot features the developer's trademarked Power Pitch bonus and all the familiar visuals that fans have come to know and love.
Rainbow Riches Power Pitch is played on a 5x3 grid with 10 fixed paylines. For symbols, there are J to A card ranks, and the premiums are a leprechaun's green top hat, a harp, mushrooms, and the game's logo as the most valuable, paying 200 x the bet for 5 on a payline. Wins are formed with three or more matching symbols on a payline, starting from the leftmost reel, and the betting range is from 0.10 to 50.
Gameplay is pretty basic compared to some other titles in the series, like Rainbow Riches Megaways, especially in the base game. But the payouts are generous, even for the low pays, and when the Power Pitch round kicks in, the excitement levels get racked up several notches.
The Scatter is a pot o' gold with a rainbow shooting out of it. It can land on any reel and will trigger the Power Pitch feature when three or more are in view. The Wild is a gold coin and stands in for all the regular symbols.
Once the Power Pitch feature triggers, the grid changes, and new symbols start landing, including a wishing well, rainbow, fairy and Leprechaun. These all act as reel modifiers, and I'll tell you all about it below.
The Power Pitch feature always starts with three respins, but the number of Scatters that trigger it will decide how many reels, 9, 10, or 11 will be on the 5 row bonus round grid.
During the feature, these reels spin to land blanks, multipliers or one of the four reel modifiers. The multipliers and modifiers stick when they land, and reset the respin counter to three. The feature ends when the counter runs down to zero or all the positions on the reels are full.
Every time one of the modifiers lands, they have the following effect:
The Wishing Well adds together all the multipliers on the grid and awards the total to itself as its own multiplier.
The Rainbow increases the number of respins to four, but can only land once per round.
The Fairy flies across the reels and doubles any multipliers that it passes over.
The Leprechaun applies a multiplier to all adjacent positions, and if any of these are already occupied by a multiplier, it upgrades it.
When any of the reels on either the 9 x 5 or 10 x 5 grid is completely filled with symbols, another is added. And if a lucky player manages to fill the entire 11 x 5 grid, the 10,000x jackpot is triggered.
This is another excellent game in the hugely popular Rainbow Riches series. I like the Power Pitch feature, and the fact that you can progress through the grids, even if it's triggered with only three Scatters, is definitely a plus. But it can take a while to trigger, so always set a loss limit before playing. Good Luck.
