This is, of course, what we know now as Halloween, and to help get you all in the mood for this celebration of the macabre, I'm reviewing a great Halloween-themed slot Reel Spooky King Megaways by inspired Gaming.

Played on a 6-reel grid with up to 7 symbols on each reel, and a 4-symbol upper reel. This setup can throw out up to 117,649 on every spin. The symbols are the usual Reel King ones, low-paying fruit and higher-paying card ranks. But they've all been given a creepy makeover to suit the Halloween theme. Bets range from 20 to 20 per spin.

Wild witch-hats can stand in for all the regular symbols to help form winning combinations. But they will only appear on the upper four position reel.  

And players familiar with the Reel King series will know that there is no Scatter thanks to the unique way the Free Spins are triggered. 

During both the base game and Free Spins, every winning combination triggers a chain reaction. Winning symbols explode off the grid. The remaining symbols fall into their positions, and new symbols tumble in from above the reels until all empty spaces are filled. These cascades continue as long as winning combinations keep being formed.  

In the base game, reels can light up yellow from left to right with a 'ding' sound on each spin. If a win is formed and a cascade happens, every following win will light up one more reel. When all six reels are lit, the Reel King is triggered, and if the cascade wins keep coming, the Super King or Spooky King level of the bonus round can trigger. 

The Reel King feature sees different numbers of Reel Kings appearing on the screen, depending on which level has been triggered. These each hold a mini slot that can award the player cash prizes or advance them along the Free Spins trail. At the end of the feature, if the player has reached the Free Spins, these can kick in.  

The maximum number of Free Spins that can be won is 25. If the player gets less than this, they can spin a Wheel, winning more spins if it lands on green, but potentially losing them all if it hits red.  

Free Spins start with a win multiplier of 1 x, and every cascade win during the round increases this by + 1 with no limit to how high it can go. They also turn the reels red, starting at the outer left of the grid, and when all the reels are red, more Free Spins are added, and the win multiplier is increased by as much as + 3.  

The Spin Chance is a last chance feature that triggers when the player’s balance falls below the current spin cost but is still more than 0. Players are offered one spin of a Wheel. If they win, they get one more spin for their current balance. If they lose, they forfeit it. 

This is a fantastic game perfect for setting the mood for Halloween. But it can trick you just as easily as treat you, so always set a loss limit before playing.
